International Cooperation Project Supported By MOST

   A new international cooperation project, titled Smart Personal Mobility Systems for Human Disabilities in Future
Smart Cities, was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of CHINA recently. This is the Forth international project our laboratory lead.

    Human disabilities are a special crowds whose mobility and healthcare have been paid more and more attentions in the world. This project will develop a new intelligent mobility service system to offer daily life assistance and service for their entertainment and work. The main research contents will include:
    1) The design of the smart mobility service system Considering the real requirement of human disabilities on mobility and healthcare, based on the smart wheelchair developed by the Chinese side, the project will introduce
SPINE Framework and Body Cloud technologies, and put forward a new framework, network topology, smart network access and cooperative model, in order to develop a smart environment for smart communities.

    2) Smart wearable devices development based on SPINE Framework Based on the concept of SPINE Framework developed by Italian side, the project will put forward a new solution on data collection, process, networking and communication
for wearable devices. A new middleware of IoT will be configured. Then several new smart wearable devices will be developed for the monitoring human posture and health parameters. These wearable device and the smart wheelchair will be networked into a set of body sensor networks. Here we call it Smart Island.
    3) Cloud services development based on Body Cloud Based on Body Cloud developed by Italian side, the project will develop a body cloud for each smart island and community cloud for the crowd of human disabilities. The body cloud can offer personal data analysis, feature identification and privacy protection. Body cloud can offer local responses and promote the accuracy of health warning.
    4) Development of smart personal mobility system for human disabilities Based on the above research and  implementation, the project will integrate all products and technologies into the smart personal mobility system. The system can offer the functions such as human posture recognition, health parameters analysis, Rehabilitation and Fitness, mobile healthcare, social and community services.
